The EquoIQ unlined rain blanket with neck is designed to give the horse a more ergonomic and comfortable fit when the horse wears the blanket. Our unique design where the front part of the blanket, the bow part, is attached high up on each side of the horse’s bridle, which gives the horse great freedom of bowing. A smooth inner liner will give minimal friction at movement.
The neck cover is specially designed to minimize the impact of the horse’s mane. It has sewn-on gussets along the man comb that lift the cover and allow air to pass through. This means that the wear on the mane is significantly less and is not damaged by long-term use of a scarf. If the mane is exposed to a full cover, it can cause the mane to become damaged and have reduced regrowth.
The outer fabric is made of very durable material, which gives the cover a longer durability and it will be more economical for you as a horse owner to not have to buy new covers all at once.
Color: Grey-green
EquoIQ Unlined Rain Blanket with Neck is made from high quality raw materials to last long and be used over several seasons.
The EquoIQ stable rugs are constantly being developed to provide a more ergonomic and comfortable solution for the horse to wear. They are made to fit all different types of horses.
This particular model 3.0 is shorter on the sides, from the back downwards. Thus, it fits best on noble and normally built horses and less well on those that are large and broad across the back.
They are highly adjustable thanks to the three D-rings that are placed 7 cm apart on either side of the horse. The front part is then individually adapted to each horse depending on how narrow or wide the horse is in the bow. Total circumference to adjust around the bow is almost 30 cm, which is a lot. The rugs are easy to put on and to take off with the quick fasteners placed at the sides. The open part below the fasteners ensures that the horse can move as freely as possible. Chafing and pressure are common problems for horses who wear rugs many hours a day, so we wanted to develop a rug that will provide the horse with as much freedom of movement as possible even when wearing a rug.
The ergonomic neck cover is always detachable.
Selecting the right size of rug for your horse.
Measure the length of your horse from the withers and back to the dock. The measuring tape should follow the horse’s back. That length is the correct size needed for your horse. If your horse have a different shape of the body you might need to take another size. The front flap will be adjusted individually depending on the horse’s shoulder size.
Guidelines to choose the correct size:
size 75/85 = miniature pony
size 95/105 = shetlands pony
size 115 = 110 – 120 cm high
size 125 = 120 – 135 cm high
size 135 = 135 – 150 cm high
size 145 = 150 – 165 cm high
size 155 = 165 – 175 cm high
size 165 = 175 cm high and above
Fit your rug properly
It is really important that the rug is not fastened too tight, because it would limit the horse´s movements and can in some cases cause the fasteners or D-rings to break. Leave about a hand’s width between the frontpart of the rug and the chest when you fasten it. The rug should look a little loose when it is on the horse. It should not get too tight when the horse lowers its head. This ensures the best comfort for the horse.
Selecting the correct rug for your horses
– Cooler is better than warmer! Horses are not humans and do not feel cold like we do.
In fact, overheating is a more common problem than being too cold. If you have a hard time choosing between two different rugs, go with the cooler version.
Environment – We really care!
EquoIQ rugs are not only ergonomic and promote free movement for your horse. We care about the environment and want to be part of sustainable consumption. We have chosen not to use fleece in our products by two reasons: To minimize plastic particles shredding and to eliminate the risk of static electricity which often occurs when horses have their coats trimmed.
Care for your rug
How to maintain and wash your EquoIQ ergonomic turnout rug for horses. Take proper care of your new rug from EquoIQ and you will have a rug that lasts considerably longer than many others on the market today. Make sure to keep the rug water-resistant by engrain the rug when it starts to absorb moisture. To keep the rug waterproof and to avoid that the PU coating enters the environment we recommend rinsing the rug off and carefully brushing away the dirt. The water drops should preferably bounce on the fabric and run off.

Of course, you can wash the rug in a washing machine. Keep your winter rug waterproof by re-impregnating it regularly.
